Turning problems into revenue - by design

VISA | Featurespace

Real-time fraud detection

Featurespace protects 500 million consumers by monitoring real-time financial transactions, processing 50 billion events annually, and blocking 75% of fraud attacks.

As the founding designer (2019–2024), I built the design function from the ground up, guiding it through the uncertainties of a fast-moving start-up – shifting priorities, competing visions, and deal-driven demands.

During Featurespace’s scale-up, I developed and executed the company’s first design strategy, integrated pioneering AI, and transformed the fraud analyst experience in support of the company’s successful $1B acquisition by Visa.

IBM

Real-time fraud detection

As the founding designer at Featurespace, I built and led the design function for five years – 2019 to 2024. During this period, four CPOs took the reins, each generating an ebb and flow of differing visions and shifting priorities, while deal-driven features replaced MVP iterations. Despite these headwinds, I was able to write and execute the company’s first design strategy and successfully transformed the fraud analyst experience and integrated first-of-a-kind AI, aligning with business goals. This work ultimately contributed to Visa’s $1B acquisition, and with a successful exit behind me, I took a career break to recharge.
